Roasted cornish game hens recipe
The neeley are sickening to watch, but this recipe is quite good.It your basic it in the oven fare hard to screw that up unless, like one person, they measure the temp in the wrong place. When roasting poultry, you have to check the temp in the thigh, since that the hardest to get cooked.I suggest slitting the skin at the thigh/breast joint it will allow more heat into that area. Also make sure your hens are 100% thawed and headed toward room temp(Don leave out of the fridge more than 2 hrs when putting in the oven. What most folks don realize is that poultry comes in to the supermarket frozen they put it out to thaw, and it not always fullythawed when consumers try to cook it.Thus overcooked white meat and raw thighs.Extra time will get it cooked, but you have a ruined bird.Much better to make sure it fullythawed to start with.

Its was a beautiful full flavored meal!Only thing i changed(Due to me not having it is i used red, yellow, and orange bell pepper, also i still used the onion and added garlic to the mix, i also stuffed the skin with minced garlic and butter.Another key factor to the lovely crispy skin is, with in the hour i took the juices from the pan with a baster 3 times and poured it over the skin during the cooking process! Is was yummy and filling!Oh and 1 more thing i used the left over peppers and onions to put around the game hens on the outside and in the stuffing!
Heaviest in the world weighs 3 times more than a mouse

A naturelover has revealed how he spent two days tracking down a giant insect on a remote new zealand island and got it to eat a carrot out of his hand.

Mark moffett find is the world's biggest insect in terms of weight, which at 71g is heavier than a sparrow and three times that of a mouse.

Big appetite:A renowned scientist from america found the heaviest ever recorded giant weta on new zealand's little barrier island and fed her this carrot out of his hand

There are over 70 types of weta species in new zealand but the giant weta has been named the biggest insect in the world because of its weight.

A female giant weta filled with eggs can reach up to 70g or more and the largest of the species are found on little barrier island.

They are usually less social and more passive than other Ralph Lauren Outlet weta.

Their diet consists of plants, other small insects and fruit.

Their size is an example of island gigantism, which is a biological phenomenon leading to a larger size than their mainland relatives because of their isolation and lack of large predators.

After mark found the female weta he fed it the carrot before Pandora Charms UK putting it back where he found her.

Mark, 53, said:Of us walked the trails of this small island for two nights scanning the vegetation for a giant weta.

Spent many hours with no luck finding any at all, before we saw her up in a tree.

Giant weta is the largest insect in the world, and this is the biggest one ever found, she weighs the equivalent to three mice.

Enjoyed the carrot so much she seemed to ignore the fact she was resting on our hands and carried on munching away.

Would have finished the carrot very quickly, but this is an extremely endangered species and we didn't want to risk indigestion.

She had chewed a little i took this picture and we put her right back where we found her.

Became all the more amazing when we realised that this was the largest insect recorded.I'd never even heard of wetas and had absolutely no idea of their character.I don't like to kill needlessly but, given that i was in a strange country and faced with a totally unknown lifeform, you can perhaps understand my overexuberant use of the fly spray.I don't think that i did kill the one i found(For which i'm glad)But it really did give me a nasty fright.

I had lots of wetas at my house, most are now gone as my cat ate them. They are pretty docile. But they can bite.My cat had caught one and while in the process of eating it, it latched onto my cats lips with its big jaws. The cat squealed and it ran around in circles for about 30 seconds trying to claw it off.Very funny, but not so funny for the cat or weta. They are quite slow and easy to pick up, i have had one bite me when i accidently squashed it, it was painful and took a few flicks of the hand to get it off, and it left pinch marks but it did not pierce the skin.I believe some species can servive being frozen.

About 30 yrs ago, i spent some time in nz and travelled extensively for my work.I once checked into a motel late at night and, upon going to my room, found one of these fellows resting quietly on the headboard of my bed. Now, i don't like insects much so i hit him with about 1/2 of the contents of a can of fly spray.I used so much that he was covered in ice.I was about to pick him up and throw him outside when, to my horror, he woke up and started walking around. It seems that they thrive on pyrethrum and shrug off cold as well.I used the other half of the fly spray, got the frozen body into a bucket and threw it outside before it woke up.
